Fee rates are from Etsy’s published fee pages, checked October 2026. Etsy can change them, and some fees (like the listing fee for non-US shops) are converted at the day’s exchange rate, so treat results as close estimates.

How to use the Etsy fee calculator

  1. Choose the country your shop is based in. That sets the payment processing rate, any regulatory operating fee and the currency.
  2. Enter what the buyer pays: item price, shipping and gift wrap. Add sales tax or VAT if you want the processing fee on it included (Etsy charges processing on the full amount the buyer pays).
  3. Enter your costs: what each item costs you to make or buy, the postage you actually pay and packaging.
  4. Turn on Offsite Ads or currency conversion if they apply to the sale.

The breakdown shows every fee and how it was worked out. The “Find the right price” box tells you what to charge to hit a target profit margin.

Currency conversion2.5%Sales converted to a different payout currency

These come from Etsy’s own fee and payment pages, checked in October 2026. Canada, Australia and New Zealand charge 3% on domestic orders and 4% on international ones; the calculator switches when you change the buyer location.

A worked example

A US seller lists a mug at $28 with $5 shipping. The order total is $33.

Transaction fee: 6.5% of $33$2.15
Payment processing: 3% of $33 + $0.25$1.24
Listing fee$0.20
Total Etsy fees$3.59

That’s about 10.9% of the sale. After $7 for the mug, $4.20 postage and $0.80 packaging, profit is $17.42, a 52.8% margin.

If the same sale comes through an Offsite Ad, Etsy takes another 15% ($4.95), and profit drops to $12.47. That’s the fee that catches most new sellers out, because you don’t choose which sales it applies to.

How to keep more of each sale

Price with Offsite Ads in mind. Shops over $10,000 a year can’t opt out, so it’s safer to set prices that still work when 15% (or 12%) comes off some orders.

Don’t hide postage in a cheap shipping price. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to shipping too, so moving cost between the item price and shipping doesn’t avoid fees. It just changes how the price looks to buyers.

Watch the fixed fees on cheap items. On a $5 sticker, the $0.25 processing fee and $0.20 listing fee add up to 9% before any percentage fees. Bundles or multi-packs spread them out.

Check the regulatory operating fee if you’re in the UK or EU. It’s small, but VAT is charged on top of all Etsy fees for most UK and EU sellers, which the calculator includes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

For a US shop, usually around 10% to 12% of the order total before Offsite Ads: 6.5% transaction fee, 3% plus $0.25 processing, and $0.20 listing fee. With an Offsite Ad it can reach 25% or more.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge the buyer.

Is the listing fee charged again when an item sells?

Yes. When a listing sells, it auto-renews for another $0.20 if you have more stock. If a buyer orders several units, you pay $0.20 for each unit after the first.

Why does my Etsy statement show slightly different numbers?

Non-USD shops pay the $0.20 listing fee converted at the day’s exchange rate, and some fees round differently. The calculator’s figures should be within a few cents.
